Machine maintenance masterclass

More and more people are returning to their pre-pandemic routines; meeting friends for coffee or grabbing that takeaway cuppa on the way to work are once again part of daily life for many of us.

Now is not the time to be held back by faulty hot beverage equipment. And with four out of five (84%) hospitality operators agreeing that they could be doing more to increase the longevity of equipment[1], we’ve got you covered.

Here are our top tips to help ensure your machines are running as efficiently as possible – now and into the future.

1. Focus on your location

You’ll already know the role water filters have to play in ensuring the longevity of your coffee machines. While it’s widely known that water can vary dramatically across different regions, you might not realise that it can even vary from street-to-street. To ensure consistency, make sure you test the water at each location to make sure you are using the right filter and setting it up correctly

2. Get to know your water supply

It’s important to understand as much as you can about the composition of your water supply so you can choose the right filter for your café business. For example, water high in salts and gypsum can corrode coffee makers and other valuable equipment, while soft water types can greatly impact on the taste of the beverages you serve. BRITA’s water map has information on the composition of water throughout the UK, so contact us to ensure you are optimising your water correctly

3. Make a routine

Remember that after installing a filter, it’s important to make sure it’s changed on time. Just as you would train staff on how to use equipment correctly, be sure to include preventative maintenance as part of this training. That way, your whole team can rely on their machines to serve consistent great-tasting coffee, time after time.

However, keeping on top of these preventative maintenance measures doesn’t need to be complicated – just ask your BRITA contact for a helping hand.

Our extensive research has given us even more insight and data into water types than ever before, which has helped us to develop an industry first, one-of-a-kind, digital water map, which provides regional information on water quality – from water hardness, the exact type of water, to the risk of corrosion.

On top of this, BRITA Professional’s Filter Service App uses data on local water conditions to calculate user-specific recommendations on which filter is best suited for your area. As well as giving you the confidence you’re installing the right filter for your water supply, it also includes a handy reminder to ensure you never get behind on filter exchanges!

Download our app for  many  useful resources to help you look after your machine, such as instructive videos and advice.

BRITA Managed Services can relieve the pressure by supporting operators with preventative maintenance – from testing water and training to monitoring water filter usage and notifying customers when the next filter exchange is due, visit BRITA Managed Services.
