The award comes after a comprehensive assessment of 21 criteria across four key areas of our operations including: environment, labour and human rights, business ethics and sustainable procurement. The methodology is built on international sustainability standards, including the Global Reporting Initiative and ISO 26000.
The rating reflects our strong ambition to be a sustainable business ourselves, as well as our commitment to helping others in their journey. And we are proud that our dedication to our environmental efforts over the last year in particular, has seen our rating increase from Bronze to Silver.
“The Silver Label is a brilliant testament to the efforts the entire BRITA team has put into sustainability across our operations, and I’m incredibly proud of the progress we have achieved. I look forward to continuing our internal work as well as supporting our customers to achieve their sustainability goals,” David Hall, Managing Director of BRITA comments.
Through forging sustainable partnerships with conscious suppliers across all sectors, we are confident that our industry can significantly reduce its impact on the environment. For example, at BRITA, we have a designated ‘green team’, we also partner with organisations that help turn our waste into renewable energy and we produce recyclable cartridges and filters.
We are also working to our sustainability charter as an entire business, where we have set clear goals for 2025 such as saving over 6.5 billion water bottles a year and preventing 1 million tonnes of CO2 through our products.
